Where to start

Complete beginners should open the Lessons tab and start with Spreadsheet basics (cells, ranges, entering data, your first formula and function, relative vs absolute references), then Shortcut basics (moving around, selecting, copy and undo). Then switch to the Exercises tab: they go from beginner to advanced, and each one links to the lessons it builds on.

How these Excel exercises work

  1. Read the task and look at the sample data. Column letters and row numbers match a real sheet.
  2. Type your formula in the formula bar, starting with =. While typing, click or drag over cells to insert their reference, just like in Excel.
  3. Press Enter to check. Any formula that returns the right result is accepted. Correct answers spill into the grid.
  4. Shortcut lessons listen to your real keyboard: press the combo and watch the sheet change.
  5. You earn more points for solving without hints. Solve at least one lesson a day to build your streak.

Which Excel version do I need?

Beginner and intermediate lessons work in every Excel version. Advanced lessons use dynamic-array functions such as FILTER, UNIQUE, XLOOKUP and LET, which need Excel for Microsoft 365 or Excel 2021 and later.
